When i was up at the Perth show I read a short story by James Cobb were the us army in 2020 are no longer using large Armour like the Abrams tanks and the Bradley but now have a integrated system combat system which covers all the roles in a sweet of vehicle which can be changes at short notice as the action needs.
At the heart of this system in the Shinseki command system. This powerful 8X8 uses advanced electric motors on each wheel to produce over 150 hp each all powered by a advanced power cell charge by a small gas turbine in the hull of this powerful machine.
As-well of carrying a combat squad of four troops in a rear fighting compartment the crew is made up of three a commander, a driver and a tactical officer in the forward hull
In the mid bay there are vertical launchers for anti personnel smart munitions and also smart concealment rounds. The other weapon system is made up of  a giraffe turret fitted with a 30mm canon which uses case less ammunition with programmable fuzzing and two launchers for both anti aircraft and anti tank missiles
this is this system in mid build.

I also plan to build another part of this system a combat robot armed with a rail gun in a fixed turret with a 30mm chain gun  fitted as a coax system and also fitted with a launch system for 7 mlrs weapons

Nice looking build Lenny.

Sorta like a 'jack of all trades' it seems.

OK, Lenny. This is pure, hardcore Shinseki. I believe the old General deserves at least a model. Transformational to the bones

I love these concepts. And yours is fantastic. I am fond of retractable/elevating/external turrets. Yours sure depict a deadly vehicle.

I can't wait for your next unmanned installment.

Do you have a top view?
one where the missile silos are more clearly visible?
And will the squad bay have firing slits?
or are the troops only used as dismounts?

Ah, and what is that story by James Cobb?
Is he the same author of the Amanda Garrett book series?

I'm asking too much.....

Yes he is the same author Its is a book with Stephen Coonts name on the cover called COMBAT
it has several of my favorite authors in such as Dale Brown  and Harold Coyle  :tank: and the stories are all set in the military of next week. There are several good concepts in the book including a space fighter called Defender which if i ever find a kit of the skunk works Venture-Star its built.

Thanks for the references, Lenny!!!

The missile farm (I can't think of another way to call it) is just..... awesome! From the location on top for VLS deployment to the caliber mixing, which gives an idea of anti-air and anti-armor or a hi-lo mix, á la FOG-M and APKWS. Fantastic!!

All nicely wrapped up on a set of wheels. Daring!

Can't wait to see them finished.

Raf,

The story is entitled "Cav" and appears in the anthology Combat, edited by Stephen Coonts.  The story is set in the same continuity as the the Amanda Garrett stories.  He wrote another story last year called "The First Cup of Coffee War" that was pretty good also.
