I am on both, but not at the same time  ;D as the bases are about 600 kms distance.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Third of the resurrected hangar queens, and the more ambitious: the Yak-14 (second use of the name) in its M - for Modifitsirovannyi) version.
The Yak-14 (second use) was an assault glider produced postwar with both clamshell nose and folding tail. See Gunston & Gordon - Yakovlev aircraft - Putnam.
The Yak-14M was a development, as the idea of an assault glider was judged obsolete. The airframe was strenghtened and motorized with the usual Shvetsov ASh-73 engines.
For use on unprepared surfaces, a fixed undercarriage was used, with a multi-wheel main gear using wheels from Lend-Lease US trucks. Flight qualities were not appreciated by its pilots and users, slow and difficult to control, with the added problem of bad sealing of the front clamshell doors, quite unconfortable in winter. NATO codename was appropriately CRAP.
As more modern turboprop cargo aircraft became available, it was gladly abandoned at the end of the fifties, and few people remember it.

As photofucket has played with the old photos, I'll post again some.
The base was a wreck of an Heller Frelon in 1/50, with wings from the OLD Airfix He 177. Tailplanes are wings of an Seahawk,  fin scratchbuilt, cockpit glass cut up from a Frog Whitley, main wheels are Roco Minitanks  US  truck ones. I hope to place well in the Frankenstein Trophy.

I can see that Yak 14M in a Rugrats  or similar film. It's got a "character" look about it.  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That's SOME build! Most impressive, and I'm glad you got that one done too!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks for the appreciations. Maybe I should have asked to move the topic in the projects/aircraft section, but now it's finished.

That's awesome!  Also, a very cool exhibition of the kit-basher's art.  Well done, sir, well done!

I Like it.  You've made it more attractive than the RW Yak 14.

Good job.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

If you'd like anything moved let me know and if I can do it, I will.
