Has there ever been a kit of this?

Following a protracted period of plotting and scheming I managed to engineer a business trip to Cincinnatti, OH. After a token appearance at the meeting I burned rubber for Wright-Patterson AFB and the USAF Museum. The museum itself is fantastic, probably the best to which I have been. However, I was very taken with the Northrop Raider which sits outside. It's sort of an American Ju-52 that looks like it was designed by a 10 year old. Has it ever been kitted? I am envisaging RAF variant in Earth/Stone cammo.

QuoteSimon,
Found this on the web

a little pricey for a bare bones vac though.
Good find! Thank you very much, although the description is chilling...

"Does not contain details such as interior - props - engines - landing gear - etc. These items must be scratch built or from the spares box."   :o

Ordered. I'll put it into deep stash until the Vac Form II GB.

The part about it being "molded upon receipt of your payment" and a 6-8 week delivery doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies, anyhow.

Does make me consider plunking a third (nose-mounted) engine on my Provider, a DC-3 (I think that was done in real life too) and maybe even on an Albatross-turned-land plane (which I was going to do, anyway).

Very rare find!

If you have ordered the kit through Old Model Kits, Al Bussie will look after you.  I ordered both the C-17 and DHC-6 Buffalo Combat Models kits through him under the same conditions and got both kits.

BTW, the kit might come with some detail bits but don't quote me on this.  A lot of the Combat kits originally didn't have parts but they seem to be getting some parts made by Robert's Bits (not me by BTW)

How did the C-17 look, Robert?

If you're going to do real engines, put R-1820s on it. It was way underpowered in real life, one of the reasons that the USAF never bought more.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I saw a picture of that... thing, years ago, and thought I had scrubbed it clean from my mind.    It sets new standards in ugly.

Are you sure it wasn't designed by Blackburn?

Hi Scooterman,

I tried to upload some pictures of the parts but it didn't let me do it.

If you PM me your email addy I'll send you the photos I took.

The moulded parts are not Rareplane quality, but at least on par with Aircraft in Miniature (which I have a number off) The plastic is quite thin though, it doesn't feel as sturdy as the AIM kits.

The resin details are not bad but I've not checked to see how they match with the real things.

'Twas likely done by the folk not working on the B-35/B-49 or F-89.  The basic idea is sound, execution, though, is less than aesthetic.
