Cool one Brian! That's the old Hawk model, made one back about '63, still hanging around somewhere. There was one on ARC (I think) a couple of years ago with Corsair wings - wicked! Lots of whiffing potential in that bird, and you've done us proud!

Are you sending it in for Silly Week?

Yikes!
Brian, i love that splinter camo stuff, and i think i'm more ham-handed than you, because my current project is on the third coat of paint, trying to do somthing as beutiful as that bird!!!

A commendation medal and a presidential citation to your proud efforts!!!

Wow, I'm thinking this sending you models could become a tradition----I'm amazed at what you can come up with for any given model!

One thing though, have I blown a mental gasket or wasn't this kit actually in 1:48 scale (you've noted 1:72) but I could have sworn it was 1:48 when I sent it (I recall wondering if you'd build it since it wasn't in your prefered scale) ????

Anyhow, fantastic idea and back-story.  Hope Alvis sees this one!

Thanks for the suggestion, Mr Rat-San. I'm not sure if my pics are good enough for ARC but sending it in for Silly Week is a good idea. They'd have to publish the backstory for it to make any sense though.

Mr Howling Mouse, the kit you sent was indeed 1/48 scale. When I held the parts up next to an old completed 1/72 scale Lindberg P-47 Thunderbolt, the idea came to me...scale-o-rama! I had no idea how tiny the actual Gee Bee racer was in real life until I got this kit. Comparing it to the size of the pilot figure caused me to shake my head in amazement.

Thanks for all your kind words, gents. It's your responses that encourage me to keep doing horrible things to such nice kits.

Brian, another classic! Great backstory as well, I may have to get one now. ^_^

Brian,

NICE!

The only way it could have been better if you would have used Fw 190 wings and a spinner with the black and white spiral on it. :D

Brian, I think the SLUF nickname applied to the A-7 Corsair II would have to be rescinded and instead given to your BF-113 since it is Short, Little, Ugly, F*****"

Nice concept and it looks good.

I'm glad you liked it. Matrixone! I figured you'd enjoy this silly thing.

Mr. Fontaine, I won't disagree with your assessment. This thing looks like it's weight problem made it fall from the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down!

Due to the encouragement of you guys (thanks for corrupting me), I took some (marginally) better shots and sent it over for ARC Silly Week (thanks Mr Rat-San!).

Come to think of it, pretty much all my builds would be fodder for Silly Week over there...

BdaB,
All of your builds are top of the line, but as of now, this one is my favorite!  B) I love it! Great job!!

Thank you Mr Miller! I'm glad you enjoyed it! If I thought I could pack it up so it'd reach you in one piece, I'd send it to you.

OK, You get a kit with spats and then don't add them???
Yea, Yea, I see you plan on using them on some other build but a spatless bird form BDB...

Nice build and I agree, send all of your builds to ARC for Silly Week.

Silly Week? Hell, we'll just get Steve to rename it Brian Week!

BdB, you've done it again! Telling me about this build was something, I had ideas in my head of how it would turn out, but now that I see it - WHY DIDN'T I DO THAT?!

Great great great great GREAT!!!!!! I should do something similar with my Hawk Gee Bee...........hmm, nachtjager perhaps? Schrage musik and some antennae..........

QuoteP.S. I am saving the spats from mine for another project...hehehehehe...
OK, what a relieve! I was really worried for your sanity: you took out the spats from a model.
