during WWII the P-51 was modefied and tested by the US Navy for it's suitability as a carrier fighter I just went a lil farther and put operational colors on the 1/48 Monogram P-51/D and added the needed carrier use gear (Tail hook, catapault attachments & Navy pilot)

the origional trial aircraft

and my version ;)

Hope you all like it BETTER PICS coming ASAP

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Okay, now figure hou how to make those wings fold.

Beautiful and inspirational, BTW.

Hi folks,

I've previously mentioned this.  There was actually a proposal for a Sea Mustang - went by the designation NA-133.  It was a development of the P-51H.  Here are some pics:

So would the designation be FJ, while the fury becomes F2J?

I always wondered about this possibility for Mustangs (and P-40's and P-38's and ... ).
For the trial a/c, did they modify the landing gear, too?
That paint scheme is positively inspired, IMHO.  Do you have a Wildcat, Corsair or Hellcat you can pose it next to?

Looking fwd to more pics...

Wow Panzer she looks great! Very striking in that three-tone camo! I love the Jolly Rogers markings and kills on it too! I can easily picture it taking on the Kamikazes and flying CAP during Olympic/Coronet! Great stuff!

For the carrier trials they beefed up the gear struts and attachment points as well as the main spar the landing gear had catapault attachment points and a "stinger" type tail hook was added. the aircraft was an earlier model P-51/D. the production P-51/N was to have wing folds outboard of the .50 caliber ammo bays (as for the wingfolds for my 'SeaStang" I'm still working on the second kit in overall gloss sea blue )
