What if Vampires went into space?

I picked this kit up during my last China visit. It's a ship from the anime series Gundam Seed.

Whilst I am a anime fan this is a anime series I have never seen. It has never been broadcast on Australian TV and we have nothing like the Sci-Fi cable channel down under. If we did I might stump up the outrageous price for cable television that Australians are forced to pay.

Anyway I digress, I thought this ship looked cool but to build it out of the box entailed painting it pink. I mean who would design up such a cool looking ship and then choose pink as the main colour?

I was not going to paint it pink so I had to come up with an alternative.

I decided that with some modifications that it would make a cool looking vampire ship. So I scrounged around in the spares box and started modifying.

The front blade is from some long forgotten V2 kit and the underside blades were shaved down rudders from a defunct aircraft kit. The rest is pretty standard.

I decided to keep the mods to a minimum because it already looked the goods

So below is the outcome hope you like it.

That is the meanest looking can opener I've ever seen!!! I love all the sharp pointy bits.    And yep I think red was a much better choice  ;)

We should all remember that space-faring vampires were defeated by the Time Lords...all except one that disappeared, supposedly into E-Space.

Cant beat a nice looking spacecraft model sometimes.  Nice!!

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

The rich red is achieved by a base coat of black and then tamiya gloss red in ever lighter coats and finally high lighted with Citadel blood red.

The model was then given a wash in red ink and then about 4 coats of tamiya clear gloss with a few drops of red ink was sprayed ove rthe top.

Then two more coats of just plain clear gloss.

Overall I am happy with the result.
