Fictional Flags is an interesting site with a list of various flags from made up or alternate countries that appeared in books, movies, comics, video games, and TV shows. Though there aren't pics of the flags for all the various countires, there is usually a good description of it and some background as to where the flag appeared. Also it seems that it has been a while since they updated the site and some links don't work.

The flag of the Union of Soviet States of America, originally appeared in a comic back in the 50's.
