The wife brought home a box of modeling "stuff" she picked up at a garage sale for $1 (USD). Amongst the paints & partially assembled kits is what I have identified as an Aztec 1000-S single-action brush. It came with both a tan (fine) and a grey (GP) nozzle & a single paint cup. It also has a can adapter (w/ can no less). Seems kinda cheap (I'm used to my VL).

Question is, should I keep it? I use acrylics, will the two GP nozzles handle it? I was thinking of using it as a spare brush or for the occasional enamel job.
Someday, I'll even finish a model ...

Heck, for a buck keep it and run some paint through it on a few test subjects.  Might be a nice spare to have for those jobs that dont require the VL.  Cleanup is a breeze on those Aztecs.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I have got a few bargains from car boot sales (is that an American expression?) in the past. My attitude is 'if it is to do with modelling then get it'. These things always come in useful. I got:

1960s boxed Airfix HMS Warspite, £0.50p
1960s boxed Airfix HMS Tiger £1.00p

I missed an original boxed HMS Hotspur for £0.50p in a junk shop.

p.s. I'm not a collector, I'm a builder. Some of the old collectable stuff I've got I would like to sell eventually so I can build real models!

Yes, definitely keep it.  Perfect for applying simple basecoats, clearcoats like Future for decals, and final clear matte finishes.

Hey, even if the nozzles that came with it turn out to be in poor shape, they are relatively cheap to replace.

Aztec (now Testor) claimed that no known solvent could harm the acetal (SP?) material of their airbrush's main body.

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Thanks all. I guess I'll give it a go tonight. The can seems to be about half full and I have to spray a dull coat tonight; seems like an ideal opportunity to test it out.

Cheers
