I'm off to my sisters in Middlesbrough next week while the Eye is closed for the annual shutdown. Apart from visiting a few museums like the NEAM or Locomotion and looking around Newcastle, I fancy hitting some different model shops.

I've heard of Franks? in Whitley Bay and IIRC there's a Modelzone in the Metro Centre but what else is up there?
M'bro is a bit of a useless dive for model shops IMHO!

Thoughts on car parking or use of the T&W Metro would be helpful too.

Thanks,

There may be a Beatties in Newcastle, I'm not sure. I find it useful to search for

model shop newcastle

or variants on Google.

Hi Nick,
got to agree with the Wooksta, but if you want to stay around 'Boro don't forget Stockton modeller on Silver St. there is also Art mart on Prince Regent St.

If you don't mind a little drive, there's P&S in both Scarborough and York, but NOT on Wednesdays!

Hope this is of some use, all the best,

Phoenix  :)

There's also ModelActive in Chester-le-Moor. Can't concur with the Kit Box of Whitley Bay recommendation; it's like standing in somebody's wardrobe with a random selection of kits.

QuoteI've been going there for twenty years and have never, never been ripped off.  Frank Campey is one of the nicest and most honest blokes I've met.
I'm sure he's a saint among men. Just giving my personal opinion of Kit Box, the emporium. In order to maintain whif.com forum harmony I'll edit my original post.

There's a little art shop in Darlington around the corner from the market/high street that has a fair selection of models.  It's up the road almost directly opposite Woolies.  Sorry I cant remember the name. Windsock Models in Bishop Auckland has an even better selection, and our very own Aircav works there.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I always hope for the best.
