Can't count as a whiff, but to demonstrate epic procrastination:
Made two Airfix Defiants as a schoolboy in the early 1960's. never liked the kit nose profile, and always meant to do something about it.
About 10 years ago bought the Airwaves correction kit SC72-29, and definately meant to do something about it.
Inspired by Kits at War decal sheet K7/9, have finally stirred into action. Stripped the old models. One now finished as night fighter, still sweating blood scratchbuilding the underwing ASR containers for the other.
Apart from the resin parts, added cockpit floor and support struts for the undercarriage. Cut out landing lights, glazed with varnished Kristal Klear. Exhausts for YD-D from scrapped Airfix Spitfire IX. First time using Xtracrylics - very pleased so far.

Nice one, Mr Gilbertson! The wait looks like it was worth it! I've always liked those nightfighter schemes.
