Iranian F-14A

Just going to ask if anyone had any pics or drawings of the Iraqi IL-76MD Baghdad-1 (Adnan-1) AEW aircraft. These had French Thomson-CSF Tigre radar mounted in the lower tail, where the cargo ramp is located on the standard Candids.Only 2 were modified and then they decided to go with the Mainstay configuration for the later models. As far as I know, only one is operational, with the Iranian Air Force after it flew there in the '91 Gulf War.I did a profile of one,but just need to touch a few things up,get the right colors(or at least close),that sort of thing.

Thanks in advance for any help

There is limited coverage of this in the Aerofax Il-76 book.  I doubt they flew very much, and more that they were very, if at all, effective.

Yes,the ramp mounted radar wasn't too effective in the AWACS role, and from what I remember, they had little if any look-down capability.By the way,I have that book. One of the better Aerofax titles in my opinion as far as covering all the models, variants and customers of the Candid.

The WAPJ or IAPR or whatever it is has a line drawing.  If I can get my scanner up, I'll post it.

Once again, France sold its best technomogy to saddam... I'm surprise we never sold him some AN-52 tactical nukes for its F-1EQ  <_<
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.
