A Nice Surprise Today

So today I go sauntering into my LHS with the intention to buy a cheapo Kopro kit that I can hack up for a Saab 29 what if I just started.

Ironically, for a Czech hobby shop, their selection of Kopro was pretty thin.

As I was eyeing other things, I caught sight of the Xtrakit 1/72 Meteor 8 on the shelf. I certainly did not expect to see it there, indeed I expected to have to get one of the British members here to secure one for me.

I knew nothing about this kit beyond the fact that it was out there and the reviews were good.

As I was admiring the very nice plastic and considering the purchase, it all started looking very familiar. Familiar like the Special Hobby Meteor FR.9 I was considering just before Christmas....I looked in an FR.9 box just to be sure....yep! Same kit but with different decals and a camera nose.

Those folks at MPM are sneaky bunch! They slip their Lockheed Hudson into an Italeri box.....now this. :P

I'm not criticising MPM, I really do like their kits and I bought the F.8 and I think I'll enjoy it.

I noticed that Hannants has an MPM F.8 listed as "coming soon" so I guess that will be this same kit but probably with a focus on export versions. Considering the clear sprue has a radio compass included, a RAAF Korean War bird will likely be in there.

I don't know if I'm bringing new news to light or just being the last one into the loop, but for those of you considering it, now you know MPM or Xtrakit, its all the same plastic.
