Hello all:

Like I say in the post title, my half done TSR.2 met an untimely end.

I needed some extra space over the holidays, so I put it all back in its box and put it in a cabinet out of harm's way, or so I thought.

Over the holidays, something in the cabinet shifted and something else fell on my TSR.2 and snapped the completed fuselage in half, the area of the break was fragmented too badly to be fixable.

It really bothers me becase I'd just managed to adjust the wing so it would sit nicely on the fuselage, I was really starting to get excited about it because it looked like final assembly and primer wasn't too far off.

I found it in its sorry state yesterday when I went to put the Christmas decorations back in the cabinet and pulled the TSR.2 back on the assembly line.

The only real upshot here is that I was able to salvage some stuff for the spares box. :(

Anyone know how likely a second run of the TSR.2 kit would be?

I think maybe I'll step away from the plastic for the rest of this week and start next week with a nice easy out of the box build to drown my sorrows. I've got RoG's 1/72 Spitfire Vb in the stash, I think that could work for the purpose.

Comments, condolences and commiserations welcomed. :(  :(  :(

Sorry to hear...you gonna need the wreck?

Going to offer the remains up for salvage?  I reckon you'd get some interest and could recoup at least some of your investment.

Well, I am holding onto the remains for future considerations, I haven't given up on that aspect of it yet.

I'm sorry for your building, upnorth...  :(

Last time I went to a cool modelshop in Paris -Euromaquette- there was some
TSR-2 left... I'll go to Paris in early February.
Think I'll check if some TSR-2s are still there  ;)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Just a quick idea: How about removing the splintred sections of the fuselage, making a short TSR.2. Then convert it into a single seater and there you have it!  And FSR.2???

Of course its easy for me to suggest ;)
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Just send me a PM if you give up and dont want to keep wreckage

I heard that trumpeter was soon to release a 1/48 TSR 2 :)

:tornado:

I'm sorry for your loss, upnorth.

Hopefully you'll be able to put all the pieces back together again.

If the new management has any sense, one of the first things they'll do is re-release the TSR2

Oh come now.  If they could extract "Glacier Girl" from beneath 268 feet of solid ice and put her back in the air, surely your TSR.2 is rebuildable! :)

Yes, but I think the folks who got Glacier girl out of the ice and flying again had something more substantial than the art school diploma and TEFL certificate that I do. :P

Seriously, thanks for the comments.

I've decided to hang onto the wreckage and wait for a reissue. That way if they don't adjust anything to rectify the fit issues I'll have some extra stuff to work out the fit problems with.

I think if I get my hands on a reissue, I'll just go out of the box with it (with a very small adjustment here and there) and call it a trainer version.

I think the reason I'm so down about losing the one I had is that I had tried to really make it different from what was in the box so I had a lot of mods on it, like a recess for a stand off missile, a new nose job and I had also dressed up the cockpits a bit (just before Pavla came out with their AM pit set).

Man, even when I'm Whiffing the AMS bug hits me. Well, I'm going to sit down at my little Spitfire now and whistle a happy tune while doing nothing special to it.
