Any Pictures Of Spitfires During Repairs?

hi all
Im bulding at the time a diorama showing a spit VIII (RAAF) during an engine change in the field...
has anyone photos showing how it can be made?
which crane can be used?...how much guys are needed for such a party? :cheers:

Hi Wolfik, the Coles Crane from the Airfix Recovery set might do, but to be honest it's probably on the large side (more for dealing with aircraft wings or fuselages).  You'd probably use a chain fall, a framework with a pulley attached.  Not pictures from Spitfires, but it'd be along the same lines:

As you can see from the second picture, you'd need three to four guys to cahnge an engine, I don't think this would change on the size of the aircraft.

Engine change? Couldnt they just repair it while on aircraft. Thats what you do with a cessna...

You could, but not if 20mm shell has punched right throught the engine casing.  In war time ops they also often tend to over stress engines reducing their useable life considerably.  Engine changes are a common part of field maintenance.
