Perhaps you can tell me, in what way masking a seam before puttying it shows my misunderstanding of the process ?

Wait a second----masking for PSR is not new (to me) but, but... you can afford TAMIYA tape for this?!?!

It's true, you are some sort of Baron or something, aren't you?

Not only the Tamiya tape, but the poor fellow is using Squadron white putty at better than 3 pounds a tube!    Nasty, slow drying, incredible shrinking putty that almost requires three coats with 36 hours to dry between them!  Head down to Halford's or a real auto body supply shop and get some automotive glazing or spot putty- at least that's what it called in the US.  Smooth to apply, fast to dry and easy to sand. Since I discovered this stuff my last tube of Squadron has dried up from lack of use.

That's actually pretty impressive, considering it's a putty job.  I've never thought of masking in order to minimize putty overcoating.  On my next build that I don't just want to throw together I'll have to experiment.

Good job, Ian!

Andrew - you don't know me well enough to use that word. Please refrain.
