At le Bourget Airshow 1965, Dassault announced plan for a new bizjet. A MoU had been firmed with Carreidas Aviation Ltd, property of Lazlo Carreidas.
Dassault and Carreidas revealed their plan for a supersonic bizjet, the Carreidas 160. Powered by three Turbomeca RR Adour (engines of the forthcoming Jaguar) it was to have a VG wing and carrying 8 passengers at mach 2.
First prototype was rolled out in 1968, and achieved it test program and certification by FAA in 1970.
Carreidas and its staff wanted to present the aircraft at the International Congress of Astronautics in Sidney in 1971. But after a refueling stop in Djakarta, the plane mysteriously disapeared when in flight to Sidney. Carreidas and others passengers were later found on the volcanic island of Pulau Pulau Bompa located hundred of kilometers away from the flight path. The crew of the aircraft had mysteriously disapeared and was never found.
Of course these tragic events had influence over the Carreidas program... but De Havilland already had reacted by 1968, proposing what was the first supersonic bizjet.

To beat the Dasault / Carreidas team, De Havilland decided that its competitor would be a supersonic variant of its best seller, the DH-125 Dominie. Of course, heavy mods were necessary.
The plane was presented as a low-cost alternative to the Carreidas. It was much less challenging to build, beeing a Domine derivative still with a fixed wing.

First plane was rolled out in 1968 and the progam was a success

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Original and interesting subject.
Match 1.5? would it be more practical than match 2?
I like it anyway
Will die without understanding this world.

I think it would be similar to the Aerion SSBJ... cruise at mach 0.95 on low- bypass turbofans (RR Turbomeca Adour, the exhausts come from a Jaguar!) then accelerate to mach 1.5 / mach 1.8 over deserts, oceans...

The wingtips tanks are necessary because Adour with reheat are quite thirsty... there's also a fuel tank in the vertical tail (like in the Mirage IV and 4000).
And the wings have more area, just because they are swept... fuel tanks in the wing roots!

Tons of putty (to re shape the nose)  and lot of fun!

When you just CAN'T be late for that board meeting!

Great idea, Archibald!

Does it have economic class? :D
Archi, you did it again!!!
It's a wonderful concept

Awesome bizjet there Archie! Yet another masterful build that looks sweet in that blue paint scheme!

Beautiful   (while Reality is so sad :( )
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

And next project, the Carreidas itself... I already have the VG system (why do think I made a fixed wing Su-24  ;) )
But I have to chose between the Falcon 20 and my project for the Falkland group build.
I plan to buy both kits in Paris in two weeks, but they are not in the same place (one is at Euromaquette, near the gare de Lyon, other at Mach 2  in Houilles)
These two places are not close from each others, and week ends are short...

For the engines, the exhausts come from a Jaguar, and the shock cones are "reshaped"  drop tanks.
The wings come from the Dominie itself, but have been swept a lot (the gap was filled with a lot of putty).
Drop tanks come from the Harrier T-10 (not sure, they already have a long life).
The tail had been heavily modified - I scrapped the awful dorsal spine, and some vertical control surfaces).

I've build the VG wing system of the Su-24 this morning. I managed to separate it from the fuselage without destroying the roots.

I used the Falcon 20 (remember the team Ferrari bizjet?  ;) )  to see how the VG wing system looks on a Falcon. Results are encouraging... now all I miss is the falcon itself! But I know where to find it...

I WANT A CARREIDAS BIZJET IN MY COLLECTION !!!
