You can do it but it is too basic: about 20 pieces, no detail in cockpit and wheel boxes, raised details. IIRC

hmm, actually one complaint i have about the RoG kit is that there is too much
detail as gets hidden inside the kit when you build it up. good detail for example
on the Mk10? cannons; extensive framing for the undercarriage bays; both hidden

still sounds like that sorta detail would improve the PM kit.

To be honest, I have to say that I made the Matchbox kit which I am pretty sure it was a reboxing of PM's kit. In fact, it looks like PM's Mirage. Well, its shape is accurate and the real thing it is very simple too. Mine was flying because front leg and wheel are molded together. It can be an option for whiffery. :)

The PM Ho-229 is not that awful for its age (early 70s). It's a very simple model and works well as a desktop model (if you can find a stand for it). If you want to go JMN over it, the shape doesn't quite match any of the Ho-229 designs. Like Carlos says, the details are raised (very fine lines) and there's no cockpit to speak of.

I saw an amazing built-up (done as a bomber) of the PM kit at Brookhurst Hobbies here in California in the early 90s, long before the RoG kit came out, so it's not a completely lost cause.

PM also came out with a much nicer Ho-229B two seater. Mark Hernandez did a what-if using this kit (at the bottom of the page).

The RoG Ho-229 is a great kit, though, and well priced. It does have a lot of details that'll remain unseen inside the model, but you can replace the ones that act as structural supports with plain styrene tubing or sheet and save the extra parts for he parts box!

I enjoyed doing my PM version as a USN bird armed with 2 "Tiny Tim's" in the one week build. Sure it's not a great kit but you get the baiscs for a bit of fun. So if you see one have a look at it and see if you want a crack - ideal wif material at the price.

Eddie Kruik's boy was building one at one of the shows complete with ski undercart - brilliant  :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The PM kit is a fun, quick build.
Great artwork on the box too.
I'd considered (due to its shape) doing it Australian Aboriginal with fancy paintwork

I bought the RoG Ho 229 kit recently and it is quite a step up from the PM kit. I don't know how well it goes together yet but I did dry fit a few parts and they fit very well.

The PM (kits) are not that bad for old kits and with a little care can be made into nice models.
