In thinking of a future group build subject, I wondered what aircraft were based on that engine type.

Shooting Star
MiG-15
MiG-17  sorta
Panther
Cougar
Sea Hawk

What else?

Somehow a massive mixup of gnarly Nene's seems to be plausible.......

Other Nene (or Nene derivative) powered aircraft were:
  • Supermarine Attacker
  • Il-28 Beagle

Only the F9F-2 and re-engined -3 were J42 (RR Nene) powered, the other Panthers and the Cougars were powered by the J48 (RR Tay).

Tunnan was D-H Ghost powered, license built by Svenska Flygmotor (Volvo Aero) as the RM2.

There's also a french conection. The Nene powered many early French aircrafts.
In fact it was the only engine available in France before the atar 101 come (in 1954!).

A short list

- MD-450 Ouragan (+ the AW variant MD-451)
- Mystere II (AW variant MD-453)
- Mistral (a Vampire with a Nene instead of the Goblin).
- Two bombers in the Canberra class : NC-270 and SO-4000.
- Grognard
- Naval fighters (Arsenal VG-90, NC-1080, Nord 2200)
- The SO-30R (a piston engine airliner modified with Nene. First flight 15/03/1951).
- The SO-6020 Espadon

Don't forget that the improved Nene  become the J-48 in the USA (Panther) but also the Hispano Suiza Verdon in France.
This powered... the Mystere IV (and its AW variant  Mystere IVN).

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.
