I can't wait for that one.

I'm either going for an OOB FAA bird or sticking some Indian Navy markings on it.

I've got some left over Indian Navy markings from a Sea Harrier kit and though the Sea Vixen would make a good interim aircraft between the Sea Hawk and the Harrier. Of course the INS Vikrant would have to be a whole lot bigger to make it work I think....
Alas for the Sea Vixen, the INF already have Crusaders  ;)
Think we bought the smae SHAR... was it the Italeri model ?

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

The object of this exercise is to make a realistic scenario for a Sea Vixen in DESERT STORM....  Why not turn a Sea Vixen into a PROWLER type configuration (transformation from INTRUDER to PROWLER is what I am talking about).  Side by Side config also.   B)

ysi_maniac,

How about either adding a TIALD pod and some Jammers and have it operating in a similar role to the Buccaneers in the 1991 Gulf War (of course you would need to paint it pink with appropriate noseart!) or, doing it up as a EW/SEAD bird with Jammers/maybe HARM/ALARM etc.

Regards,

Greg
All hail the God of Frustration!!!

The Rat

Re-engine it with a RR Pegasus, forward ducts where they are now on the Harrier, and one huge one at the rear, kind of like that, um, whateveritis that's got a single one now, the name escapes me.

You'll need bigger intakes of course!

Got some AV-8B intakes if you are interested by Mr Rat-san idea  ;)
I like the idea of an EDH-110... add some HARM, ALARM or Martel ARMs...

I found this image over on Air Vectors:

What you need is both volume of "british secret projects" from 1950 by Tony Buttler.

Sea vixen derivatives mentioned in the books are

- supersonic Sea Vixen
1- (early 1954) One had RB-146s, other rocket engine pack. Both could fly at mach 1.5. There was also heavy mods, as mention in air Vector. The delta planform was not the best option (too much rebuild)

2- (november 1955) for the RAF : a basic Sea Vixen with a spectre rocket motor. This was an easy way to push speed above mach 1.

- GOR-339 sea vixen. It's the design on the left... before drawing new aircrafts (which later see EE P.17 victory) a complete review of existing aircrafts was made in 1957 (including foreign designs and streched british aircrafts).

Hawker P.1121, thin wing Javelin, improved Sea Vixens, Scimitars and Buccaneers  were in competition. None design was liked by the RAF... no growth potential, and specs below GOR-339.
american aircrafts / projects were also assessed (F-105, Vigilante, B-66,
Martin B-68, Bell D-188 VTOL, Hustler).
