(I posted similar under the Float Plane thread, but thought a new topic was better)

Well, I decided to fool around with my own 'Moller' Plane using the Custer channel wings. I read a NASA article last night about recent work with channel wings augmented with a pneumatic system to blow air from a slot in the trailing edge. It gave a great boost in performance.

Here's my idea. It would have four half ducts that use Custer's Channel Wing idea. There would be two engines  (turbo props?) behind passenger compartment, with drive shafts going to all propeller pods. Propellers would be flexible composite constant speed blades like the Carter Copter. With two engines, one can be shut down for cruising. Vertical stabilizer holding rear propeller pods is an all moving rudder for yaw control in flight. Pitch and roll are controlled by rotating the propeller pods (as well as yaw in hover/slow mode). Front propeller pods fold to vertical position for ease of storage.

After I've built my working model, I plan to fly to Moller's house and ask to see his 'flying' car.  :f16:
