Monogram's P-40B Tiger Shark in 1/48

Spine removed aft the canopy to tail fillet
Guns removed
Preliminary tape-up completed....this one has seriously wide, worn-out seams  :o

Note:  Chinese-issue styrene is very flexible and leaves my hands feeling hot, almost allergic like.

Plans:
Open cockpit utilizing Squadron windscreen.
Simple rescribe of panel lines..the plastic seems up to it.
Civvie or semi-civilian whatiffery livery.   Blue/Orange/Silver...may change that...
Possiblely ''metalized'' control surfaces

Pix to follow in a day or few as she progresses

I love the sound of this one dude, I want one!

Ya know, I know someone with a Hawk 75....if I can persuade him to make similar changes then we can have a real-world one....and thus your model is ineligble for the GB as it will be real-world....HAHA, my grand plan to be Ultimate P-40 Champion shall prevail at all costs! MUHAHAHA!!!!

*apologies on Zac's behalf, it's lack of sleep that drives his mania  ;) *

Very interesting.

Anxious to see how it turns out.

That's some major styrene surgery going on there Daryl! My hat's off to you for your imagination and courage! I can't wait to see more of this pomising project!

Cool!  That is going to be swift looking bird.

Daryl, if the plastic is irritating your hands, try giving it a good wash in soapy water, failing that, wipe it down with white spirit or meths.  It's probably either a mould lubricant on the surface or plasticiser leaching out.  As well as you hands, it'll probably give you some trouble when you come to paint if you don't get rid of it.  The Chinese are well known for still using some nasty materials that have been long since banned in the West.

Looking forward to the build!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Got this little bird about 75% rescribed this afternoon before the twins needed attention.   The nose is partly left and will get the rivets embossed with a trick little tool Tony Bell sent a couple years ago.     Nose piece needs a styrene shim to bring the contours back due to mould wear.

The plastic sure scribes well, perhaps even better than Monogram's best from the 1980's.  But it still made my hands hot........

I'm thinking of  grocery receipt paper/Tamiya tape detail for the top of the wheel wells and some in the flap area too.
