Hi all

A trip to my LHS today revealed what is probably one of the last Academy P-40M/N kits currently in-country...a swap of plastic for plastic and I was the proud owner of P-40 number eleven!

No pics as yet, as I've only just now (1937hr) begun painting the cockpit components and assembling the wing, but I've decided to tell you this bird will emerge as Planes of Fame's Kittiwake Mk.I WA000/N000WA, in colours worn by FAA Corsairs over the Atlantic...yes, grey over grey. *sighs*

Anyhoo, pics tomorrow! WOO!

I LOVE P-40S! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHA

EDIT: 2043hr, wing together, about to cement fuselage halves and install cockpit.

EDIT #2: 2058hr, fuse together, rear decking in, cockpit about to go in. Remembered I need to take off the carburettor intake. Argh!

EDIT #3: 2133hr; mainplane attached to fuse, same with horizontal stabs. About to start cutting into the air intake on top of the cowl. Some sanding on the rear decking done. Pitot on. All remaining small components practically ready for installation. Got the decals sussed ages ago, just finalising them. WOO! MODELLING HEROIN!

Right on, Zac! Your enthusiasm is an inspiration!

:) I aim to please, O Spatman!

UPDATE TIME!!! 2238hr; aerial mast on, second lot of putty in the old carburettor intake trunking. Wheel wells have their second coat of chromate yellow. Two coats of Sky Grey (new today) behind the cockpit, on the distinctive glazed area there.

As I wait for the putty to try I'm working on painting my R/W Academy P-40E. Planning on masking and spraying my R/W Hase 1:48 P-40M too.

As always, updates as and when.

Unfortunately my Photbucket account must be getting full as it's now taking forever to load, so I'll resort to "old-fashioned" methods of photo posting. Some in-progress pics of WA000 for you to enjoy.

Third lot of filler is in, I'll attempt sanding it in a wee while. Could very well have this completed by Monday. Woo!

EDIT: Forgot to say this pic was taken around 2200hr last night, hence the lack of third-lot-of-fillerness and grey in the glazing areas.

Wow that's some mighty fine detail work on that 'pit there Zac-o-matic! Impressive!
