an Aussie roundel on a C-160  ;) , what a great  idea, maybe that would have replaced the Carribou. i still have 4 spare C-130J engines left here, maybe i could get one and create a C-160J with 6 bladed props

Gunship, fit a M197 or a Hughes Chaingun as the high-end and a brace of miniguns or M60s.

This would call an airbus A200M  ;) (no typo!)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

I'm doing one of those now, with the tiny 1/220th Heller kit.

If it was Greenham Common, my guess is it was 1977 International Air Tattoo, when the RAN attended (Skyhawks, Trackers and Sea Kings) wile their carrier was moored off of Portsmouth for the Queen's Silver Jubilee Fleet Review.

Just my guess, unless any body else knows better..............................

Anyone got the real story behind that picky?

Why was it zapped with Roo Roundels?

Usually it means it is on a "hello cruise" of the nation, but can't see the reasoning.

Also note an orange Kiwi slapped on the side.

Hmmmm..........

In the seventies, airshows had a much more laid back level of security. The crews were there for the parties, and they normally turned up with boxes of stickers, some of which were sold to the public, but the main purpose was to zap other aircraft. Hence the array of stickers on the Transall.

There was an NZ plane there (RNZAF Boeing 727 if I remember right) which is probably where the RNZAF roundel came from. Being the Queen's Silver Jubilee, most of the 'old' Commonwealth counties sent planes to the show (and yes, the Canadians were there).

Digging a bit deeper it would appear that this was taken at the"Fly off" day at the 25th Phantom anniversary about 1982?.
