Daryl J.,

Very late production Fw 190D-9 a/c had the full defensive scheme of RLM 82, RLM83, and the greenish variation of RLM 76 and the Ta 183 would have had much the same colors were it mass produced.
As the new Dora book by Jerry Crandall will show, there were more Fw 190D-9s finished in the gray colors than first thought, German a/c production plants were forced to use whatever paints they had in stock first before getting the late war green colors, some plants were lucky enough to get the new colors while others had to make do with whatever paint was available even if it was not the proper shades of paint just to get the planes to the front lines. A number of the gray finished airplanes were given quick field applied paint jobs in the new late war green colors to make them harder for the Allied fighter-bomber pilots to see them while they were on the ground...and out of fuel.
