Very, very swish! I hate how so many people are trying to force me into liking Air Superiority *yaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwn* Grey, goshdarnit!

Some fine work there! The weathering is quite nice, and I also favour the weapons loadout.

One of the best I've seen. Wish we knew the backstory!

Love the Ipswich decals.

I'm getting all patriotic and misty eyed all of a sudden.

"Ipswich Celebrates" was a special marking scheme worn by the F-111C A8-144/"City of Ipswich" of 6 Squadron RAAF in 2004.

This is the curse of speed;  I have been a slave to it all my life. On my gravestone they will carve 'It never got fast enough for me'.

Ipswich is also the town closest to RAAF Amberley - I believe there is a rumour that they may soon have an F-111 of their very own.

I have often thought that when the mighty Pig is retired that at least four should be preserved.

1 Point Cook RAAF Museum (naturally this WILL happen)

2 RAAF Amberley gate guardian

3 Somewhere in perhaps a museum of flight/heritage for Ipswich City

and

4 A new build exhibit at Eagle Farm Airport next to the original Southern Cross. Would make a perfect aeronautical juxtaposition between old and new technologies and also two important aircraft that defined Oz aviation.

I think you will find that every single one will be preserved and used as gate gardians etc - unless of course we sell them to Pakistan ;) .

You really think they would preserve all of them?

I'd like to see a C, G and R/F kept due to some unique differences in structural/avionics and models, however, I reckon we will do what we have always done in Oz and end up fire dump or dozering them somewhere out of site.

:(

I have plenty of backyard space though, if they want to sell them off for $1.

:P

Hmmm, Pakistan, eh? Would be an interesting mix to go alongside our old Miracles we flogged to them.

We have ourselves another thread. Ex-RAAF Pigs, what nations could whiffers foresee as operating them?

Curious.
