Following the request thrown out by Falcon for a/c used in the testing of the TSR2, I was hoping to do the Lightning chase plane.  But I can't come up with a single photograph of XM968 when she was the chase plane.  One of the guys on Britmodeler has unearthed one from 1963 with yellow fuselage/wing bands and white forward fuselage....but too early for the time frame specified.

Anyone?  Bueller?  Anyone?

Nev, can't find any of XM968 specifically, but I do have a few of several T.4's & T.5's in that same yellow stripe pattern.  I can post this one of XM974, it's from Wikipedia:

This yellow stripe pattern was used on several two seat Lightnings of the ETPS.  Some of these aircraft were passed on to the AFDS (Air Fighting Development Squadon) & retained their ETPS colours.  They carried this scheme until at least 1966 (lastest date I've got of a pic), but as the Lightning began to be wound down the aircraft made their way into general squadron service & were painted accordingly.

If you can get hold of it, 'Farnborough; 100 Years of British Aviation' has some pics of Lightning's in this scheme & should be fantistic fodder for Brit whiffing or modelling of any kind.  Haven't got one myself yet, I keep flicking through copies of it but always seem to be low on cash when I do!

EDIT, added book reference.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

It'll almost certainly help Nev, XV.  The pic shows yellow stripe just visible on the fin & also shows that it dosen't have an ETPS identity number on the fin.  This should mean the markings are almost certainly identical to the one I posted & I should be able to find other pics birds marked up like this as well, if not XM968.

Thanks for looking guys - XV107, that pic is very interesting, showing the yellow fuselage band as it does.

Anyone else?

Cheers
