the small paper baking cases that say mr kipling cakes like french fancies come in
are ideal for temp things for mixing paint on. buy the ones you get in packets of 50
in the baking ingredients section of the supermart and make sure you get the ones
that are waxed on the inside and your paint shouldn't leak or leech through. works
well with acrylics and xtracolor enamels and i am checking re the revell and humbrol
enamels for their suitability.

In the US there are foil versions available which are even more leak-proof.  Better yet, restaurant supply stores have various small styrene containers for take-out/take-away sauces with tightly fitting PET lids at around one cent each.  I've used these for mixing paint, storing small parts, and as model components.  Always pays to snoop around a store!

ah yes indeed andrew but this option is much more inexpensive and is good for
short term mixes. if i was say doing a color form a RoG instruction sheet the i would
want a ali foil container or cake case if a large surface area of model was involved

Here in the UK I use the plastic tops that come on milk `bottles` There leakproof and not affected by any solvents I`ve used so far and they come free with your milk.

At my local supermarket I can get these mini pies that come in fairly sturdy tin pans. I always save the lttle tin pans and even wash them out and re-use them. Another good idea for mixing up a small batch of acrylic paint is the lids from Pringles™ or similar chips/crisps that come in the cardbard tube. The little plastic lid is a perfect size to use as a palette and the rim ensures nothing spills if you're only mixing up a small amount.

Been doing this for ages. I also use the lids off of coke bottles as they are great for mixing small the medium quantities of paint. I also use them for glue.
