I'd like to thank matrixone for sharing this shocking expose' on the most insidious of all the Nazi superweapons.
On to the build, about a day of work so far!

Wots this here? Oh nothing, just your typical VW staff car with a pretty normal paint job...

...and painted RLM sky blue on the bottom for some reason...

Oh no....

Wow and I thought I was the only one around here who needed "help".

You're off to a nice start, goober! I'm really looking forward to seeing more!

Trouble is Brian, your like me and many others on here. We don`t need help, were all quite capable of doing things like this. What we need is treatment, our hands restrained, sharp objects removed and a total abstinance  of all forms of mental stimulation. My doctor thinks 3 weeks in a dark cupboard could do me wonders. :D

what can i say, great(or at least equally disturbed) minds think alike...

Here's an update on the (RLM designation)Volkswagen VW-382a-0 "Fliegerwagen:"

Here's the configuration that im aiming for right now. I figure a strut and boom configuration would involve the least PSR. Landing skids would be necissary to support the weight of the wings and engine off the bug to ease detatchment. The rest of the tail is coming soon.

There's no way I could gracefully use the nieuport 17's engine to power the prop(and i don't think the VW's motor could do it either  ). I think I'll scale-o-rama a 1/72 v-12 cowling into a 1/48 aircooled inline.

The idea here is that the flying bug would be used to supply agents, paratroopers, and partisans with some wheels ahead of the heavier armor. Naturally, a Beetle is more aerodynamic than a kubelwagen, so it'll have to do. Upon landing, the flying bits would be detatched and discarded.

Thanks Ed :D

Hiya Goober,
How about a belt drive from the Kubel/Beetle engine. I don`t  think the word gracefull has any relationship with the configuration that your aiming at.  ;) B)

REALLY nice idea  by the way.

Hey, Goober!!!

The Doctor said "the red pills", not "the green pills"

Great concept there, mate. That's an incredible leap of imagination. I can almost Imagine the great German Autobahns serving a fleet of flying beetles!!
