... a colleague recently passed along an 'Airfix' 1/72'ish 'AT-AT' walker so i thought id give it a go finishing it as something different ...

After a suggestion during discussion with Geoff B. im thinking something along the lines of 'His Majesty's Land Walker Dreadnought' ...  :ar:

... ill probably just go with minimal modification, possibly adding rivetted plates, semaphore signals, etc. to add a little 'period detail'? ...

i can just imagine this behemoth striding its way over the shell scarred fields of Belgium, altho im sure one well placed 'boche' shell would bring it to its knees! ...

So your not adding anything to the At At from the WW1 tank you have in the background of the pic? Just curious.

I always thought the AT ATs & the 2 legged walkers in Jedi would look great in SEA camo or Desert Scheme. It's going to be interesiting watching this kit develop.

Thorvic

Possibly open up some Air intakes and exhausts at the Back end with a few lewis gun ball mount around the body. ;)

the 'Emhar' tank kit in the background was one my colleage also passed along, i had thought of using it for its rivets, but decided the kit was too nice to waste..lol

.. hmm...the thought of slicing lots of lil discs of styrene rod...aarrgghh..!

B777LR

Place a cannon from the tank in the nose (instead of 2 lasers), and suspend the other gun from the belly of the walker

Excalibur

A flame thrower instead of the lasers? Shocktroops inside the hull.

Mossie

Rather strangely, the torso dosen't look that disimilar to an A7V.  Looking forward to seeing how this one pans out Joe!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

NARSES2

Now with loads of big rivets and a funnel I can see this fitting in to a "War of the Worlds " scenario   Or the Jules Verne Martian Sky's stories (they were Jules Verne ?) One of the big Wargames show had lots of terific participation games based on this whole 19th Century Sci Fi genre - and the figs are available. British Unicycle mounted lancers anybody ?

Chris

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Mike Wren

a sponson on each side would add to that WWI feel, don't forget the white/red/white ID bands round the 'head'

TsrJoe

hmm... i sooo hate making rivets... lol :banghead:

following 'Thorvic' and 'Narses2' suggestions iv opened up a few vents etc. on the upper and rear body, and added a funnel like potrusion (ill add a wisp of cotton wool to represent steam, lol)

iv been doodling with some ideas re a possible colour scheme, probably a basic camouflage with as Mike suggests red/white/red recognition stripes, possibly horizontally on the fore legs ...

Man I am so waiting to see how this baby turns out.

This has given me so many ideas.

Hope you don't mind but I might have a go at something similar.

The At-At just screams Wehrmacht doesn't it? Here's my version of a German At-At.  I went the lazy route and went with just the appropriate camo and markings.

I've seen other Germanized At-Ats that have had more work done on them. One has the top half of the head replaced with a Tiger turret.

You can't go wrong with modified atat's...still one of my favourite builds was the atac I did a year or so ago. Can't wait to see this project of yours come to life!
