I was thinking for the upcoming Coast guard S.A.R. Build of doing a USCG MH-53E Sea Dragon as a high endurance SAR bird, so I got to thinking with the rear ramp and all that room a perfect addition to it's rescue gear would be a Rigid Inflatible Boat. for rapid Calmer water rescues, but I was wondering if anyone knowes of ant AM kits out there or will i have to scratch one??? Thanks for any help

Might be able to scrounge one form an Airfix Lifeboat?
It's not an effing  jump jet.

Sirmar in the UK make a few UK types of different lengths in various scales for shipmodelling.

Use the pull down menus to search, I found pics of the Brit boats under Modern British - 1/96th - SHIPS BOATS. Two of the boats are available in 1/48th.
The larger types in 1/96th could be a starting point for a 1/72nd version.
They sell separate outboards for the boats. One US type is listed, in 1/96th only.

Cheers, Jon

-doesnt the 1/72 revell rescue cruiser contain a RIB?

Hongwell do a range of 1/72 diecast vehicles that includes a rescue series with a towed RIB, for a very reasonable price.

If you can find the old Revell PBY kit that was released with the Calypso markings for Jacques Cousteau's aircraft.  You will find that this kit had a nice little Zodiac with a couple of divers included with the basic aircraft model.  I have not seen that kit around for a very long time but it was for a while the only good source of a Zodiac in 1/72nd scale.

If you were doing something a bit larger, the Italeri Frogman kit has a 1/35th scale Zodiac that includes an outboard motor and a fuel tank in addition to the very basic wetsuit clad fugures.

Other scales would require that you seek out a suitable aftermarket product from a supplier of model ship fittings and accessories.  Only problem with this is the prices for some of the very basic products (meaning very few, if any details) will cost you more than the model you intend to use it with.

Yes, the Revell of Germany kit #05238 "Hermann Marwede" Seenotkreuzer (SAR Vessel) does indeed come with Zodiac/RIB shaped inflatable boat.

The parts are located on Sprue "G" which consists of the following five pieces with part numbers/descriptions:

Left side flotation chamber (top and bottom): G63 and G64

Rigth side flotation chamber (top and bottom): G65 and G66

Hull bottom: G67

If you can talk RoG out of those parts, you will be on your way to having what you want.

Keep in mind, there are no parts for an outboard motor.  I beleve it is supposed to represent a RIB type craft that is fitted with an inboard motor since the hull bottom has a console of some kind mounted in the center of the deck.  There are no parts provided for a propeller or rudder.  It is a very basic shape and it would work well for what you have in mind.

It is most unfortunate that Revell does not see fit to offer such a nice little boat in a separate kit since the Herman Marwede is quite expensive.

I'd love to get my hands on a 1/48 zodiac/rib for an eventual CSAR/Coast Guard V-22 build that is rattling around in my head.  I've pretty much resigned myself to scratching one.

I'm thinking it'll give me an excuse to break out the rubber mold and resin kit and play.

Yea Lemon I have pretty much decided to scratch one myself.I need the practice besides it shouldn't be too difficult
