Hi there....I'm on a project where the 'model' has a 75mm canon in the starboard fuselage. What I'd like to know is.....with the B-25H, was the canon self loading or auto? And also.....how much of the weapon would be visible 'in' a cockpit?
No, the project wasn't built......only designed!

The 75mm cannon that was carried by the B-25 was loaded by one of the crew.  The ammuntion was stored within reach of the breach and the crewmember was tasked with loading full round and ejecting the spent casing as fast as he could when the pilot elected to use the big gun for engaging targets.  I imagine that trying to load that weapon in an aircraft that was bouncing around in flight to evade anti-aircraft fire would have been quite an experience.

Later developments may have led to an auto-loading weapon but the 75mm cannon that was mounted in both versions of the B-25 was based on a standard ordnance piece with minimal modification.
