Curious- what's the turret ring size(s) of the AEC armoured car Mk.II and Mk.III?

Mark.II has a 6-pounder, yet Mk.III has a QF 75mm AND an extra crewman; what role does that crewman play and where in the armoured car is he situated?

Different turrets.  The Mk.II used a Valentine turret.  The Mk.III used a modified Crusader III turret.  The "extra" crewman was the loader on the gun.

The AEC is an excellent advertisement of the perils of trying to adopt a 4x4 truck to use as an Armoured Car.  it was excessively tall because of the drive train problems the truck chassis represented.

As far as I am aware, it was a bog-standard Crusader Mk. III turret up-gunned with a 75mm to replace the 6 Pdr (which was possible as the British 75mm was created using a 6 Pdr gun rebored initially to 75mm and retained the 6 Pdr mounting).  The gunner and commander were provided with permament seats while the loader had a flip down one but normally stood during engagements.

Something i've been pondering for the upcoming RAF 100 GB.  A Russian BA-3 with a Rolls-Royce pattern turret.

The Crusader turret was used on the Staghound armoured car not the AEC . The AEC Mk III  turret was purpose built for the vehicle and of a unique design. Although the AEC was quite tall , it was nevertheless a very successful vehicle.

The interesting thing about the Ba-3 with RR turret is either how large the turret is, or how small the BA is ? Neither overly so, they could pass as being slightly different scales.

So maybe when British and Soviet forces moved into Persia, as was, in 41 or 42 ? the RAF Regiment acquired a couple of BA's in exchange for a couple of bottles of Johnny Walker ?

The BA-3 and the R-R are pretty close in overall size, the Rolls being roughly 4" longer, the Rolls turret was large.

I adjusted the turret to match the size of the ring on the BA-3.
Turkey had BA-6s and possibly BA-3s so I figure it was acquired by RAF forces in the general Palestine/Syria region and then had the turret replaced.  I will come up with a vaguely plausible story.
I will be scratchbuilding the turret to fit the body.
Eventually I will also build my Roden Royce armoured car and knock up a small diorama.
