More of an FYI for those near Selfridge ANGB.  The final departure of the base's C-130's will be September 15th (I think).  I'll find out from my buddy at work who used to work there.  There's supposed to be a going away celebration at the base that day.

I just saw a C-130 fly over the house yesterday.  Not sure how many are left at the base, but the end is near for them.  I think the base museum wants to keep one, transferring their C-130A to somewhere else on the base.

Rally, Toad, kurly, keep your heads up for Hercs, as they won't around too much longer.

Still no pics, but I did see something interesting on the ramp on Friday, after the golf outing:  A B-52H.  No idea what it was doing there.  It may have been the one from the airshow, but I coulda swore it hasn't been at the base since then.

We had a nice little display on Friday.  Six of the base's KC-135's were on the ramp, and as I played that hole where I took those other pics from, one of the -135's spooled up and taxied out.  On the next hole I saw it rocketing down the runway.  Also near that hole were four of the base's F-16's.  Later on in the round I heard (and eventually saw) a C-130 taxi near the hangars.

D'OH!

I got the day wrong for the ceremony (I'm not surprised, really).

Yesterday was the final day.  The 127th is converting over to the KC-135R role, and the 927th is moving out.  They should fully convert over by mid-2008.

And it looks like we won't be keeping one of the C-130E's, as they're being transferred to Little Rock.

wierd, the USAF is losing the E model, and the Belgians are gaining 1
still, i thought the US could still use the C-130E's in Afghanistan & iraq, maybe they could donate some to the new Afghan AF, just like they did in Iraq.
