Since some of you are either already done or getting close to being done with your respective entries, it only make sense to put up a "finished entries" thread.
Only thing I ask is that you'll put either the full backstory, or a overview with a link to the whole write-up when you post (got this idea from the Falklands GB).

(sorry BdB, seems you beat my edit   )

Okay, my turn.  Northrop/McDonnell-Douglas F/A-23A Raptor.  Sorry the backstory isn't that exciting, I haven't slept in days and I've been awfully distracted lately.  And really, all you need to ask is, "what if the YF-23 won?"  Nothing really done to it, except to refine the main weapons bays (fit was bad), rescribe the lines, scribe a new "stealthy" nosecone panel line and give it a fresh paint job.

The winner of the ATF competition, Northrop Grumman's entry bested the YF-22 with superior range, speed and stealthiness, against the lower price tag and maneuverability of the competition.  The F/A-23A is the world's most expensive fighter aircraft at $200 million per Block 1 example, the superior range of the Raptor allows it to perform high-speed, search-and-destroy missions deep into enemy airspace.  F/A-23s deployed to Misawa AFB have performed routine, surprise interceptions of PLAAF aircraft patrolling the disputed Spratley Islands, and have been rumored to be responsible for the destruction of four North Korean MiG-29s (officially they were shot down by ROKAF F-16s for violating South Korean airspace).
