I've had a Lancaster or two around for a couple of years and it came to me the other day:

Long range anti shipping
Long range anti tank

Mount a 20 pounder gun (from an airfix Centurion project) under an Airfix Lancaster using bits of add on armour from a KV1S tank (from a PST model). The idea is to mount the gun in the bomb bay using the armoured bit to protect the mounting. Delete the forward and mid-upper turrets and convert the tail turret to an armoured position with 4 20mm guns (from an Airfix Firefly). The turret will not be manned, controlled from a new position further up towards the crew compartment. To give the Lancaster a bit more 'oomph' I plan to modify the outer engine nacelles to take jet engines. Lengthen the moutings and add air intakes. I've had a look at the Shackleton at duxford and it should be OK. The engine outlets will come from an Airfix Me 262 (yes, I have a load of Airfix kits waiting to be hacked!).

The down side is that some of the raw materials are still in storage in Cambridge. I plan to get it all back in November, so start with the raw materials to hand:

I'd like to see more of this build, because there's someting strangely appealling about a whatif that involves replacing an engine and prop with a jet engine.
