Is it ever great to have plastic in hand, cutting, test fitting, sanding, and such.   And best of all, it's a what-if!

The kit:
Revell of Germany 1/48 Hs-123A-1 as a base.

Today:  Heavy, heavy rises and sags began to be addressed on the wings.   The Italian Sagmaster was at work here big time.   Some tooling has been touched up since the ESCI release, but the work looks like it was done with a needle in Play-Doh.  <_< .      Wings are on their way to being filled and converted into all-metal surfaces.   Perhaps later tonight they'll get their first coat of Mr. Surfacer 500 or Magic Sculpt to fill in the sags.

Rather large, rounded gaps wherever there is a seam....hmmm....putty this; putty that.      It'll work.

It was very different working away this afternoon with a 4-year old hanging on my left shoulder asking "Why this?" and "Why that?" with every move.   He said he was giving me 'daddy-time'.    That can't be beat!

Theme:  (may change)   Something mercenary, N. Africa, post-war.   Someone rather rich, rather reclusive owns the thing.   Would strafe/bomb convoys and individual vehicles carrying smuggled gold, diamonds, and such which were supporting the USSR or communist interests elsewhere in Europe.  Based out of Morocco.  No national markings, only individual markings used.  Had access to USAF bases as needed.  Failure of a most key mission resulted in a significant gold cache reaching the desk of one certain bald dictator, putting him in a rare, good mood and was the exact thing that caused him to withdraw missiles from one very green Carribean island just off the Florida coast.

Mods:  All metal wings, removal of head fairing, bits and barbs to be added.   Night capable...somewhat.   Orange County Choppers may have some influence on added fiddly bits.   Spats likely to be modified in planform.    Engraved details added, possibly some Extratech Photoetch.   No national markings/ personal markings only.

Goal:  Hopefully it'll produce a double take at the next IPMS meet.

No photos yet.

Update: 13 Nov 07
Squadron green putty in wing sags to metalize wings.   Some of it's rather thick, so lower half of upper wing left alone in case the tolulene melts the plastic.

Update 19 Nov 07:
PSR.   Squadron Green Stuff shrinks.

21Nov07:  More PSR.  Underside of upper wing....most of it will be left ''fabric''.   Them's some deep sags!    Extratech PE set arrived yesterday, some of it is useful for the project.

It was just the box art anyways.  Hopefully that fixed it.

PSR!  The late afternoon light shows well just how deeply this kit's wings sag.

I decided to leave most of the wing undersides so it doesn't self destruct with putty.

I think they call that the "starved cow" look, Daryl. It's nice to see you modifying that. I'm really excited about this project as the Henschel is definitely ripe for whiffing and you've got a great concept in mind for it. I can't wait to see more.

P.S. Condolences on your Stuka. I first saw it's obituary over on HyperScale.
