Went to my LMS today to find out it will be closing in mid-August. This will leave me without a local source of models.

On the plus side, they have a 25% off sale, so I got a couple of kits I hadn't otherwise intended to.

Dunno if anyone is interested in said sale. It's Jennings in Enfield, North London.

I believe it has something of a reputation for shall we say surliness but if you ignore the owner, the other guys are actually alright once you get to know them. It's been there as long as I can remember. Oh well, such is progress.

An LHS around here went at Christmas (they didnt actually go out of business, just shut the shop up and went on-line only), and they were the ones who didn't do you any favours on price. Not exactly "surly", but made it clear that plastic kits wern't their core business (which was RC).

Would I be able to help?  I have an account at a wholesaler - and I do favours on prices...

Jennings!!!! :o  http://80.177.103.159/

I've been there several times and the staff have always been friendly. The fact that I spend good money there probably helps though!
Thanks for the warning, I'll have to pop up there and see what kits I can afford to take home.

Their stock is not the most up to date. I suspect a lot of it is bought second hand from wholesalers and other shops having a cheap clearance. That means they have some good old kits from the 80s and 90s. If anyone has any requests I could get them for you, check the website above.

A lot of their kits have been there since the 80s and 90s!  ;D

Don't get the 1/72 B-36, I'm hoping I can swing a last minute deal.

That's okay, thanks: the good side is that I've found or been pointed at two more localish ones that I didn't know about!

There's one on the shelf and another up in the rafters if you look carefully...... -_-

sideshowbob9

Yes I vaguely recalled there might be two but couldn't remember for sure. I'll have to get both then!  ;D

Rafters is right. Those shelves go up pretty high. The £40k health and safety mandated refit bill (including lowering the ceiling) is the main reason for the closing or so I was told.

Drove past here today and it is now a Money Shop.

I drove by an old one this week that closed abruptly earlier this year, and it's now an expansion for the cell phone store that was next door.

Yeah, it's a "licensed" loan shark basically. The only reason I can foresee going up that way any more is the Greggs!  ;D

Met one of the guys a couple of weeks ago. The rumour is that the owner intends to re-open the shop the other side of the M25 but he had his doubts whether it will actually happen.

Get my stuff pretty much exclusively on ebay these days.
