Comrades!

As we continue pouring forth the fruits of our great revolution, I would like to show you a possible companion for the great symbol of the Soviet Navy, the aircraft carrier Sovietsky Soyuz.

I give you the battleship Kursk!

Battleship Kursk

Note that this portrays the vessel as she was during the 1950s. Naturally, since she shall be portrayed escorting a carrier built in the late 1960s, she will have been upgraded, like so:

Dimensions (in meters, not Imperialist units!)
Length: 260
Beam: 31
Draft: 9
Engines: Three 70,000 horsepower
Speed: 32.7 knots

Tonnage (metric!)
Standard: 39250
Full: 44900

Armament:
1 twin 406
1 triple 406
4 twin 76.2
4 quad 57
1 twin V-611 Shtorm (SA-N-3 Goblet ) w/ 36missiles
2 quad RPK-3 Metel/SA-N-14 Silex

Now I need to find a hull of the appropriate dimensions as the base for my smaller representation of this triumph of superior Communist engineering.

Up the revolution!

Good Evening Comrade Iosef

Looking in the Western Capitialist press (Conways All the Worlds Battleships) the only possible choice for a hull would be a USS Iowa class Battleship as its the one one nearest the right size & shape.

The Sovyetskaya Ukrainina class Baattleships appear more appropraite with the 3 x3 406cm guns, very similar to Iowa .

Comrade Og

Any data on the Stalingrad class Battlecruisers, as they sound to be ideal escorts ?

Comrade Og,

I am aware of the "real" planned battleships, but this ship is so much more interesting visually!  B) I could build a model of the most likely Project 24 battleships, but this one really catches one's eye, and demonstrates the superior skills of the Soviet Naval Revolutionary Design Bureau.

As for the impressive Project 82 battlecruisers, you can find more details here, in the Mother Tongue:

(You can Babelfish the pages for a translation to one of the decadent Western languages.)

Up the Revolution!
