Starts Jan. 8 for eight episodes.

Called "Jetstream," this will follow the training of 7 fighter pilot candidates.
Sound familiar?  Let's hope it fares better than the ill-fated "American Fighter Pilot" "reality" series from 2002 about USAF pilot candidates!  That one lasted only 3 episodes before being yanked due to poor ratings.

To most people, the whole fighter pilot job sounds like exciting Top Gun kind of stuff but the schooling portion of the job is really just a lot of work and much of it on the ground at first.  On AFP, the editors realized this and tried desperately to jazz up the lackluster content with dazzling (read: distracting and annoying) kid-rock style cuts and shaky camera action, etc.

Sure hope this Canadian take on the same subject is better.  The site takes awhile to load but it's worth it (I think):

There's a similar show on in Australia now called "Real Top Guns" (and no, I'm not watching it) - must be the latest recruiting idea.

Yeah, we have it in Sweden as well (not the actual shows mentioned above, but on the same topic...along the same guidelines...yadda yadda yadda...you get the picture).
