For a heavy fighter that looks like it would fit the requirement.  Would the center wing section have a battery of 20mm cannons or the usual .303" browning machine guns?   Either way it would be "Club Shred" for whatever got in the way.

Hmm, it does tempt one to twin a Hurricane IIC with the 20mm cannon wings.  Two or four cannon in the center section?  My own BOTE (Back Of The Envelope) thoughts would be two to keep the center span reasonable while keeping out of the propeller arcs

Two in the wing and two in a pack under the wing maybe?  Or two 20mm' and two 40mm' in the pack
