Whoa, Jeffry just asked me about armor-modelling and I suddenly remembered this one, languishing somewhere in the basement since The Big Move (somewhere next to that in-progress T-33 I was also doing and cannot locate, either).  I've got to re-start this tank as it's really quite close to being finished.

Mmmm.....a foliage diorama would also be nice.....

I'd forgotten about this as well, a real beauty  Your mission for this weekend is to find this bad boy, and if you happen to stumble across a couple of ugly helos, well by all means bring them to the party too   ;D

I just read on another modeling forum that Academy will be releasing this same kit.  I wonder if it is the same mold borrowed from Trumpeter or did they actually pay for new tooling?  You know, Barry, you could use this for the starting point of that real estate vehicle I mentioned in my last message to you.

Is that tank the Korean copy of the leopard ? I don't think I've ever actually seen a K1A1.

I had forgotten all about this project.  I saw back on the first page that this question was asked, but never answered.  The K1 (or "88 Tank" in Korean) was designed by General Dynamics as a sort of lightweight Abrams derivative.  The basic design is American, but the FCS is based on that of the Leopard 2 and the powerplant is a German MTU diesel.  The K1A1 brings the tank up to M1A1 standards in the way of armament (120mm) and protection (though without the DU armor plating).
