For screenshots of a DVD, your best bet is to install VLC. Other DVD playing programs tend to disable screenshots for annoying legal reasons. Bonus: VLC also allows you to skip the stupid commercials on the DVD. The only drawback is that it won't play back all DVDs (it'll choke on some DVDs which are deliberately broken to provide extra copy protection).

If you have a good freeze-frame pause, can't you simply use SnagIt to capture the frozen image?

"How would I take "screen shots" of a DVD movie on my laptop? Ever since I've had Dell laptops I havent been able to figure out how to take snaps of my fav movies for my screen saver & other things.

Hi Shasper,
Ive been using Power DVD by Cyberlink. Has a likkle camera in the controls or just press `c` key during film. Collects stills easy and you can make your own stop frame bit in saved position.
it has to be easy otherwise I don`t use things and still having trouble with the windup phonograf

A version of that came loaded on my laptop, but it lacks that feature (the version on my desktop at home doesnt however). Guess Dell doesnt want trademarked stuff being snipped on their hardware.
