Well after finding out the crap news on my knee I was kinda depressed  >:( :banghead: So I figured the best thing to do was create. Art is a wonderful cheerer upper
So I bashed up the roundels
Here's ARC's cool profile

Here's the start of the roundels

And here they are finished

Not exactly like the profile but there is so much variation in American and British roundels that I thought I could get away with it. ;D
I also added standard Mustang details modified to fit the new design like walkways and stencils

I also got this

Down to this size

But I have no decal sealer :banghead: I tried dullcote but the first one just disintegrated so I'll go to LHS and get the proper stuff tomorrow

I have actually earned "Makes own decals"  ;D

I really can't claim makes own decals.....well but this is my first try and it was like reinserting teeth

If I wasn't such a stubborn bastich I would never do that again, as it is I will never use testors decal paper again >:(

If you use clear it comes out.....clear  :banghead: If you use white you have to cut right up to the edge of the color

I had planned to do both sides of both vertical stabilizers but after 6 :banghead: :banghead: tries I just barely got this done.
Testors decal paper is a lot more attracted to itself than any part of a model. Watching me trying to spread out a tiny wad of decal (wet, off the backing paper ) on my cutting board I'm sure was akin to seeing monkeys breeding footballs :banghead: :banghead:
Also I'm pretty sure I came up with new and unusual cusswords :banghead:
Anyway ,I also mocked up the lower wing roundels.

Which now looks like hammered doo doo .Even after several coats of sealer I managed to rip half that decal off with masking tape while trying to align the rocket installation :banghead: :banghead:
I also installed the cannon barrel ,the antenna, and the pitot tube , along with detail painting

Is not it amazing? :o

NIce work on the markings, Toolslinger! I have pretty good decal luck (which probably than compensates for my luck with jobs and cars), but I hate when decals act like your tail marking did. It takes a supreme effort in patience and self-control to win that kind of fight. My hat's off to you!

And she is done . ;D The Mstang is officially the Northrop American P-78 Charger as flown by the Luftstreitskrafte Freies Deutschland

It is of course my weird mind's design but decorated in the style of ARC 3371's cool profile

I will be posting a full photo essay with backstory in the Profiles Tribute GB but here are some pics for ya'll that have been following this thread
