Now, I'm not saying that I'm building something Canadian, and I'm not saying that I'm building a CF 101. However, for my next project I need to know what color Canadian Voodoos where painted. FS number, Model master or Humbrol number will all do, even Tamiya or Gunze paint number will be fine. Any help is greatly apreciated.

Thanks in advance guys

FS16515 "Canadian Voodoo Gray" available from ModelMaster.  You can get the same color from a number of manufacturers (I recommend Xtracrylics wholeheartedly) as Boeing BAC707 Gray.

Some were NMF, others were painted white, too.

Thanks Jennings, I wasn't aware that MM had that specific color in its range. I'll have a look at the shop next time.
I'll pas on the Xtralics though. Hard to find around here.

JHM, I know they had white Voodoo's, in fact htere is one in the stash waiting to be build. Didn't know about the bare metal ones though. Learn something new every day here

Thank you both.

White Voodoos?  Regular in-service interceptors?  Where have you seen that?  The NMF ones were the early ones obtained from the USAF in the 1960s.  They were traded for upgraded, zero-timed airframes in the 1970s, all of which (to my knowledge, except for the few 'special' anniversary scheme airplanes) were painted light grey.

They wore the gray and then they went to silver dope after that. They also had a different colour underside to protect them from all the goose-crap that covers the runways.

Pat Martins book about finish and markings is a great place to find that kind of info.

Cheers !

Nice pictures JHM, thanks for posting them. They do look good in grey and in Silver. Then again, they look good in any color  ;D

Jennings, not regular day  to day use for the white but one wonderful white aircraft: 416 sqn, Cougars retirement scheme.

Other way around.  They finished their careers in the light grey.  I know, I photographed many of them at airshows in the late 1970s and early 80s.. (including one with bright orange indoor-outdoor carpeting on the cockpit floors!  Put that on your model!)
