Same reason that only F-35A c/n 2AA-0001 has a single nose gear door instead of two; they found this effect very early in the flight test program and immediately redesigned the other SDD aircraft with all the concommitant headaches that engendered.

Good on 'em. I don't wish ill on you Evan, but better that engineers get the headaches than the poor guy with his fanny strapped into the seat.

No arguements from me on that account.  Besides, since they let me go, it's "other peoples' problem" now as far as I'm concerned.  I've got enough to deal with at Sikorsky.

Back on What If again  after deleting myself and not bothering to reinstate myself !?

Not much (ie. nowt) has been done to my Swift Trainer, I have taken off the raised panel lines from the fuselage, filled the bizarre engraved roundels and markings with superglue.  I have used a Squadron sanding stick (tri grade) to get the shiny finish back to the plastic.  I hope to engrave detail back in.

As you can see from the photo there is a lot of difference between the plans and what is presented in kit form!   


The nose area is much to thin and the intakes maybe to round? certainly a little small.

The tail cone is narrower than the plan and that fin needs to be changed. I don't know how though???

The wings

From what I have learnt from the plans, there are 2 real choices for the wings (remembering this is a fictitious design)

Early style with wing fences, the fences in the kit will have to be removed as they are HUGE and in the wrong positions.


Late style with a dog-tooth in the leading edge, much like a Hunter.  I have the means of doing this now with a spare set of wings, it just means a bit of chopping, measuring and extending the wings just above the ailerons (see where the drawing extends from the kit piece.


AS FOR THE UNDERCARRIAGE, still considering the knife???  but I know I will muck it up! as for re skinning over the wheel wells, how can this be done?

Which is more accurate, the plastic kit or the printing?
Measure up each of these, scale up the results and compare with the official aircraft measurements. My money's on the printing not coming out at the correct scale.
