Hi

Any tips for painting MCD on the inside of canopies?

Micro Detonating Cord (Darren's just got the D & C transposed).  It's the small explosive cord that's used to shatter aircraft canopies immediatley prior to ejection.  It's often characterised by a zig zag pattern across the canopy, one of the aircraft where it's most prominent is the BAE Hawk.

I think I've seen some photo-etch sets that include this (the interior CMK set for the Airfix 1/48 kit is one), it's then a simple job to paint it, although attatching it is another matter.  This only tends to be for 1/48 scale & bigger as far as I know.

Some kits have the cord engraved into the canopy.  If this is the case, it's usually a fairly simple case of letting paint run into the engraving, then wiping off the excess using a cloth dampened in your cleaner of choice.

I've you've got a steady hand & lots of patience, another way would be to draw it on with a sharp pencil.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Careful trying to paint or pencil it in (or any general handling)--I have heard that mere static electricity can set it off. I just HATE IT when my canopy explodes in my hands!!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!
