I have a really bizarre question.

I tweaked one of Mihoshik's ship profiles a while back to make the USCG Flight Deck Spruance.  I never finished my physical model of it for the Coast Guard GB, though it is in a fairly advanced state of construction.  It still needs some building, painting, and then decals.

Would that be eligible?

Either way, it's my back-up as a started on the Lanc already, but I figured I would ask.

Could one interpret the markings on a model a little different?

As We've said before - as long as the build is 'in the spirit' of the profile and if nobody raises a significant objection, there shouldn't be a problem.

Can you draw your own profile and then build it? I wanna do a Canadian A-10 but I'm afraid I wasn't that inspired by the wonderful drawing done by Mr. J. My drawing will suck in relation to his, but it's the idea I like. A Beaver Hog in special Afghan theatre paint. I even have the back story worked out.

Hmmmm not sure about that, Gary, again, I'll confer with my learned colleague and drop you a PM.

I think that, in the spirit of this GB, we are trying to recreate an existing graphic profile as a 3d model subject, whether it be that of another artist or our own.  Bringing something that's already out there in 2D into the round as a 3D representation.  To draw up a new scheme ad hoc and build it could be (and is often) done anytime (and we would strongly encourage you and applaud your efforts on the regular picture post thread).

But, with the 100's (if not thousands?) of existing profiles out there by so many talented folk on this site, we'd prefer that you pick one of those for this GB.

Hope that is fair.

How far along is your model and how "faithful" is it to the original ship profile?

Excellent, tovarish!  I will endeavor to model the Running Dog West's aircraft as interpreted by the artists at the OKB.

Completion: 75% of gross construction.  Basically it's a hull and a bunch of unattached sub-assemblies, like the hanger, Sponson, exhaust uptakes.  Hull also still needs some work

Painting: None.

Decals: None.

Faithfulness: As close as I've been able to get it so far.

This is the final mockup.  Stuff is sitting loose on the deck.

Just seeking approval from the 2 Caesars - is it OK if I enter my 1WGB build in the profiles GB?  As mod I am ineligable for that anyway.

I'm good with it.  Unless Ian disagrees, you should be able to enter it, no problem.

Sounds like it fits both GBs, no problem.  I spoke with BdaB on a prior GB he was the mod for as well because he also thought he should be inelligible for winning in his own GB: as long as the winner is chosen by open poll/vote on the forum, I see no reason why a moderator can't be just as elligible as any other entrant.  If you win the 1WGB, I would be happy to send you a prize, Nev!

Thanks Barry, but that ain't gunna happen ;)  I've somehow managed a couple of seconds though (and wouldn't you know, both of them I had more than one entry - shot myself in the foot!  :banghead: )
