Continuing my thread about early British missile armed fighters (http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,10597.0/highlight,early%20british%20missile.html ) .........

Following the success of the Fairey Delta 2 research aircraft in breaking the world air speed record, Fairey proposed a number of variants for active service, resulting in the RAF buying a small quantity of the Delta F.1. With the complex and heavy nose-drooping system deleted, the aircraft was able to carry sufficient fuel for a reasonable combat range. Other modifications included a shorter noseleg, and replacement of the 'eyelid' jet nozzle. Like many fighters of its time, it lacked gun armament, relying instead on a pair of AIM-4C Falcon IR guided missiles

Oh nice one! (I've wanted to build something like that for years).

Are those F-5 outer pylons I spy? ;D
