take a looksee at this... its from a japanese 'manga' series called 'Stratos-4' about some (school?) girls who fly TSR.2's, Yak 28's and a neat little three seat orbiter!

i gotta get me copies of this one!!! i love the idea of TSR.2's with big missiles underneath (hmmm..i wonder if the artist has seen the IRBM. drawings?)

some nice images and even nicer babes too...

(poss some for the shah...!)  :P

The TSR.2 on the main page is awesome looking!  This bird looks soooooo whicked with the gears down!

Ever wondered why all the Japanese(anese) cartoons had chicks shaped like goddess in them?  And there's always some kind of wise-donkey know-it-all animal hanging aroung talking about everything...

And don't forget the way those girls dress...   :o  :o  :o  :o

Okay, from what I've been able to figure out Stratos 4 is about these girls (duh) who are pilots in some comet interception force (apparently in the future comets hit the Earth a lot).  There's also Yak-28s in it as well.

Here's some more pics:

The producers of this anime really whatiffed the TSR.2 as well!  From what I understand they strap RATO bottles on the TSR.2s and launch them off launch rails!

Here's the original blurb on the TSR.2 from the official site, translated literally into English from Japanese.  And I'm still trying to figure out 99% of it.

QuoteThe experimental model TSR.2 which in 1957 development starts in England as a supersonic attack plane & a spyplane, flies to 1964 for the first time was produced to the base.
It is loaded by the trailer of the terrestrial base, it departs ZELL (Zero Length Launch= point-blank range takeoff) due to. Through the jet ・ engine and the pylon of 2 shots, at the time of takeoff 2 machines is loaded RATO which (Rocket Assisted Take OFF) jointly using the thrust of pod under both main wing, almost it takes off vertically. When combustion of RATO pod ends, igniting to the rocket booster which back matter is done in the tail assembly joint, furthermore it rises to the stratospheric periphery, it launches the interceptor missile which is loaded onto body lower part. In other words, as much as possible quickly carrying the missile it is the missile ・ carrier which was developed in purpose to very high altitude.
When the reaction bullet explodes in the stratosphere, the intense electromagnetic wave generates. The electronic circuit which uses the semiconductor which is inside the range everything it destroys the EMP effect. The electronic circuit of 2 systems is united in order to avoid the influence in the very high altitude intercepter. On the one hand the computer by the usual silicon tip/chip. Already, it is the electronic circuit which as for one side, does not use all semiconductor and consists of the vacuum tube. This vacuum tube circuit, when 10001, the semiconductor circuit knocks down with the influence of EMP, is backup of for the sake of with simultaneously, constitute is the main circuit which controls the fuselage. After the semiconductor circuit which can do mass production with low price until it attacks mainly, was used in management of aiming and the soldier equipment, launched the missile being broken even if, it just returns to the base being, there is no hindrance. Using the up-to-date circuit in the missile, it rises, when the human returns, it meaning that becomes just the vacuum tube of old style, reputation from the pilot is not good.
In the same way the cockpit is jointly used, the principal meters being formed at analog meter, the centralized fire control device by the CRT monitor. Of course the joy-stick is simply servo (power steering).
Furthermore, because in the stratospheric periphery there is no air density which is necessary for the control of the fuselage, RCS which is equipped in the nose and the main wing edge etc. (Reaction Control System) using, it controls fuselage attitude.

Now, I haven't figured out where the TSR.2 factors into this series, because the Comet Blasters (as these girls are called) use some kind of orbital craft to shoot down the comets:

Actually those are pretty neat and simple marking schemes on the TSR.2 and Yak-28.

Man I should really start learning Japanese again.
