Monogram Orient Express/X-30?

Today I stopped by the local discount/junk shop where they usually keep a few kits ona back shelf. They have two old and faded copies of the Snap-tite Orient Express spaceplane that Monogram did in the late 80s. I thought about getting them, but for a discount shop their prices seem a bit steep sometimes ($10 for this kit, box in pretty poor condition, shrink wrap in tatters). Still, it looks like something that may do well with a 1/72 cockpit grafted in, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this kit? Is it worth $10 to whif?

Can't speak to the pros or cons of the kit, AD but a quick Google reaveals some are selling for 12 quid in the U.K. so $10 would seem a bargain.

It falls within the upper range of what I typically spend on a kit, so I'd go for it!

That is a steal mate, the big collectible kit website in the UK (dont remember the URL off hand) had a few for quite a bit more. . . you're lucky

Thanks lads...maybe I'll go by tomorrow and grab them up. It's not a big box, and I dont remember seeing a scale, so it may just be a small box-scale kit, but even if it's tiny a 1/144 cockpit/canopy grafted on might look good.

The fuselage of the model measures about 10.25 by about 5 inches.

A 1/72nd F-16 cockpit and canopy is just about a perfect fit size wise for a 1/72 single seater Scale-o-rama, I did a compare using the cockpit/canopy of a Monogram F-16XL kit.

SR-71 bits would work for a two-seater.

Heck, it's a fun kit on her own. Go get them dude, you won't regret. I imaging the decals are a write off, but I may still have my set if you want them.

Thanks for the offer Gary, but even it the decals are TU I dont see myself building it OOB anyway! After reading everyone's comments I'm going to go pick them up later today. (Of course my luck will be that they are gone today, after sitting on the shelf since 1988.)
